As we approach the holiday season, we’re also planning a Thanksgiving dinner! It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together, give thanks, and enjoy each other’s company. We’re aiming to hold the celebration on Thursday, November 21st, and will send out a formal invitation with all the details once the date is confirmed.
Lastly, we’re planning two special Christmas parties: one for the kids and one for the adults! We’re still finalizing the dates but tentatively plan to host the kids' party in the first or second week of December and the adults' party in the second or third week. As soon as we have the exact dates, we’ll send out a flyer with all the details and sign-up sheets.
Resident Spotlight:
We would like to thank Marie, Tiffany, and Melania, for helping us prepare the many sides we served at the cookouts. Also, we would like to thank MANY of you who stayed and helped clean up and put everything away after the summer cookouts. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
We just wanted to give a special shout-out to Peter Lazarus thank you for being such a great sport and diving into the dunk tank at our recent event. Your willingness to take on the challenge added so much fun and excitement to the day, and it truly made the event memorable for everyone involved.
Thanks to the success of last year’s Donna DeLauri Backpack Drive, they have decided to do it again this year! We gave away backpacks filled with school supplies for Quaker Meadows residents attending school this fall. Backpacks were distributed at the Labor Day cookout on August 29th. We were excited to see the smiles on everyone's faces. We are grateful to the family of Donna DeLauri for their generous gift to the Quaker Meadows students over the last few years.

A few fall reminders:
Fire and Evacuation Procedures are now available on our website under the Resident tab. Please take a few minutes to review them and print a copy for your home. If you’d prefer us to print and send you a copy, just call the office—we’d be happy to assist.
Patio entrances/exits and back doors should be used for emergencies only.
Marijuana is strictly prohibited at Quaker Meadows, as it is a federally funded property.
Annual Recertifications:
As a reminder, the recertification process requires the completion of a questionnaire. Please fill it out completely before meeting with Vanesa. If you answer “yes” to any questions, please include any monetary amounts where applicable to help streamline the process. Remember, the process takes 120 days to complete. Not following these HUD guidelines is unfair to Vanesa and could put your subsidy at risk. If you have any questions, we’re here to help.
Embrace the Fall: Tips for Wellness and Preparation
As the weather cools and the days get shorter, it’s important to adjust our routines and habits to embrace the new season. Here are a few simple tips to help you stay healthy, prepared, and make the most of the fall months.
Eat seasonal foods: Seasonal fruits and vegetables are fresher, tastier, and more nutritious than out-of-season produce. Some fall fruits and vegetables include apples, pears, pumpkins, squash, sweet potatoes, and dark leafy greens.
Get enough sleep: Fall has shorter daylight hours and a cozier atmosphere, so make the most of it by getting plenty of sleep. A consistent sleep schedule helps your body and mind recover and rejuvenate.
Check your car lights: As the days get shorter, it's important to check your car lights so you can see and be seen in the dark.
Dress for the weather: Dress in layers so you can be ready for colder and wet weather.
Fall cleaning: Fall is a good time to tackle annual cleaning because the cooler weather is a break from the summer heat. You can also open your windows for fresh air.

Maintenance Notes 🔧
Friendly reminder: if there is something that needs to be fixed in your apartment, please do not hesitate to call the office to put in a work order.
Heat: Check your heat to make sure it is working properly before the cold days set in.
Windows: Please check all your windows to make sure they operate freely. If any need repair, please let us know.
Garbage disposal reminder: Please do not discard the following items in your garbage disposal. Bones (of any kind), celery, potato peels, eggshells, fruit pits, grease, pasta, rice, and coffee grounds. These items do not break down easy which then causes backups to the drains.
Air conditioner filter: Please check the filter to make sure it is clean before running your A/C. A clean filter will help your air conditioner run more efficiently for longer, as dirt and grime will cause it to overwork and use more energy than necessary. Keeping your air conditioner filters clean helps the cooling process, allowing you to chill the room faster and turn the air conditioner off earlier. Also, a dirty filter can restrict airflow over the evaporator coil, which can cause it to freeze over. When the coil melts, it can drip excess water that the pan may not be able to handle, possibly damaging apartments and or porches below.
