Community Updates

On February 15th we had a Valentines Day Bingo Night. We had a few bingo winners and Cheryl Burke was the winner of our raffle basket.

We had a couple of exciting events in March, starting with our annual St. Patrick's dinner, on Thursday, March 14th, residents came and enjoyed the boiled dinner with corn beef and cabbage. Congratulations to Mona Elsayed on winning the raffle basket On Friday, March 29th we had the Easter egg hunt, with a special appearance from the Easter Bunny. We had a great time in both events. Thank you to all who participated.

In the next few months, we are kicking off the summer in style. We have several events planned and hope that all our residents can come and enjoy the festivities. We will be firing up the grills: Memorial Day cook out will be on May 30th and our 4th of July cook out will be on June 27th. Look out for the flyers for more information.

Media Room: As a reminder, the Donna DeLauri Media Room at 65 Memorial Park Avenue is available by making a reservation with Ana during office hours. There is a computer, a printer, a TV, DVD player, and PlayStation. Please remember that when using the room, you are responsible for following the rules of the media room and will be held accountable. We want to keep it a welcoming place for the residents to use.

As a reminder, there are two vacancies on the Board of Directors. Please call Ana at 781-596-1300 if you are interested in applying to become a Quaker Meadows Board Member.

PET POLICY: A reminder that we have a NO PET policy in place for Quaker Meadows. Understand that you may see pets that have been granted permission from our corporate office for reasons that are confidential to the resident owner, however, because you see someone else with a pet, it does not mean you can have one. When management becomes aware of the situation, you will be asked to remove pet(s) from your household or face further action.

Thank you all!

Judy

Seasonal Tips ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒžโ„๏ธ

With hot weather and summer vacations well under way, here are a few reminders to avoid common summertime hazards

  • Protect your skin: Use a sunscreen that has an SPF of 30+ and reapply throughout the day when youโ€™re outside. Wear a wide brimmed hat, sunglasses and protective clothing.

  • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day โ€“ and before you feel thirsty (thatโ€™s often the first sign of not drinking enough). Carry a reusable water bottle.
Never leave children or pets alone in a parked car: Temperatures can heat up in minutes and be deadly.

  • Safety first: Be sure kids and adults wear a well-fitting helmet when riding a bike or scooter.

  • Take it slow when driving: Watch for kids running through the neighborhood, around playgrounds, ice cream trucks and other play spaces.

Maintenance Notes ๐Ÿ”ง

Bathroom Vent Fans: When taking a hot shower, make sure to keep your vent fan running throughout the shower and for at least 15 minutes afterward. This will help prevent any moisture-related problems in your apartment ceiling. Remember to clean the vent fan cover as needed to ensure proper airflow, which effectively vents the excess steam from the area.
Hallways, vestibules, & stairways: all hallways, vestibules, and stairways in common areas of the building must be kept free of obstructions. Shoes, boots, mats, toys, bikes, etc., must be kept inside your apartment and cannot be left out.
Garbage disposal reminder: Please do not discard the following items in your garbage disposal. Bones (of any kind), celery, potato peels, eggshells, fruit pits, grease, pasta, rice, and coffee grounds. These items do not break down easy which then causes backups to the drains.
Toilet clogs: Please be mindful by disposing personal/baby wipes, feminine products, paper towels in the trash instead. When these items are being flushed, this causes a large problem to your apartment and your neighbors who are closest to the drain lines as they will experience a drain backup. You should only be flushing toilet paper.
